The casting team of Selena the Series on Netflix, is doing an extensive search for the lead role of “Selena Quintanilla.”

Selena is a Mexican-American woman, age varies throughout the seasons: (15-23). The powerful Latina icon and inspiring pop sensation. Must have an excellent singing voice. BILINGUAL-ENGLISH/SPANISH. SERIES REGULAR
SELF-TAPING INSTRUCTIONS:
SLATE: Please shoot an introduction with name, height, and city actor lives in. Keep this shot wide, no need for profiles. If shooting with a smartphone, please position it horizontally so it’s full screen.
SCENES: Please tape Scene 1 of the sides only, upload only the best take. The camera should be eye level. Make sure the frame of the camera is from the top of the actors head to about mid-chest. No profiles, please have actor as open to the lens as possible, looking slightly off camera. Make sure we can hear and see the actor well. The actor should be well lit and preferably in front of a solid background. Also, please do not wear any bright red lipstick and try to wear minimal makeup or a natural as possible makeup. The producers believe it is not best to impersonate Selena but rather be natural as possible and do a great job acting. Try to also wear an artsy or casual outfit, not an outfit Selena would wear on stage.
SONG: Actors will sing the attached song selections A Capella (no music track or accompaniment). Attached please find the song list. For self-tape, sing the provided excerpts for COMO LA FLOR and STRAIGHT UP only. Acting is most important, this is for us to get a sense of your voice.
NOTES: This is very important – don’t be so dramatic in this scene. Selena is a strong woman, she is fierce and brave, but she should not be so angry here. Even though this is a heavy scene, with a rollercoaster of emotions, as far as the drama goes, LESS IS MORE. Try to be yourself, and try to act as if this is a regular conversation with your dad who is really more disappointed then you. Please have your reader not be so loud and dramatic as well, as that takes away from you.
