Surreal Comedy
Runtime: 8-10 minutes
Synopsis:
Story centers around Harrison, a recent high school graduate who feels his life has always been out of his control. At a family gathering held to celebrate his college acceptance, he makes an explosive attempt to distinguish himself—only to find out that he wasn’t the only one.
Roles Being Cast:
- Harrison – 18 – A high school graduate with a lot to prove. A learned behavior of compliance keeps his insecurities and dramatic impulses in check—until it doesn’t.
- Harriett – 40s – Harrison’s mother, a (micro) manager and chronic over-explainer. She wants to ensure Harrison follows the straight and narrow path of studying hard and getting a job—all else is distraction.
- Harry – 40s – Harrison’s father, a rather plain fellow whose purpose and entire life seems to revolve around how much he loves his wife.
- Aunt Harley – 40s – Harrison’s aunt and Harriet’s sister. Still subscribed to her sorority’s magazine, she refuses to let age or responsibility get in the way of continuing the college lifestyle. Uncle Harold (gender interchangeable) –
- 40s – Harrison’s uncle and Harriet’s brother. Has a deadpan sense of humor, making it hard to tell whether he’s joking or genuinely depressed. Wants Harrison to make the most of college, because “it’s all downhill from there.” Grandpa Harmon (gender interchangeable) –
- 70s – Harrison’s grandfather and Harriet’s father. He’s happy just to be in the presence of his family. At times seems a bit senile—operative word seems.

February 22nd – 23rd and March 1st – 2nd, with possible reshoots March 8-9; A few hours a day; San Diego location.
