ACTORS WORKSHOP STUDIOS is the only studio in San Diego that provides the A to Z of breaking in and working in the film and television industry! Established in 1989, we provide on-camera training in film and television acting, audition techniques, improvisation, industry knowledge, and on-going career opportunities. We hold ongoing in-house auditions and showcases where our actors perform for top Hollywood and San Diego producers, agents and casting directors.
Actors Workshop Studios was established in 1989. We are the oldest, most successful film and television training facility in San Diego.
Known as the City’s top producer of working actors, we have helped numerous talent land major roles in feature films, soap operas, TV series, movies of the week, commercials, industrials, voice-overs and print work. For examples, see our “Jobs Landed” page.
The sessions are ongoing, and you can start anytime!
The class you attend depends on your previous training and background.
When you register for our three month program, your opportunity for all the benefits of the program is just $750 for three months if you pay in full. Or elect to pay monthly at $275/month. After the three month program, you receive the “committed actor” discount price of just $175/month!
Due to the sensitive nature of acting training and to respect the learning environment of our current students, we do not typically permit people to sit-in on a class.
However, we will be happy to meet with you and give you a tour of our facility. This will also allow us to learn more about your goals and answer any questions you may have.
As a student, you may attend our in-house auditions that provide actors with maximum career opportunities! Top Directors and Producers visit to audition our actors on an on-going basis. From Feature Films, Short Films and Web Series, to TV Commercials, Industrials, Print and Voice-overs. Our actors don’t just train – they land speaking roles, including many lead roles! Check out our recent and upcoming Auditions on our website and Facebook page
Film and Television auditions are typically “cold readings.” This is a developed skill that we teach in our classes.
A cold reading is being handed a script, taking 10 minutes or so to look it over and make choices, and then act the part.
Some auditions also involve improvisation.
And finally, for some auditions you’ll get the “sides” in advance and have time to memorize the lines.
Actors Workshop Studios is conveniently located off the 805 freeway and the Mira Mesa Blvd exit in Sorrento Valley
